(IP) Ingress Protection RatingsThe concept of Ingress Protection is defined according to reference standard IEC60529 (International Electrotechnical Commission) and specifies the environmental protection an enclosure provides for an electrical device.The standard nomenclature of an IP rating consists of 2 digits following the letters “IP”. The first digit (ranging in value from 0-6) specifies the level of protection against solid foreign objects and access to hazardous parts. The second digit (ranging in value from 0-8) specifies the level of protection against liquid ingress (for example, water). |
